Formal living rooms are not as popular as they once were. Our
living room will be an informal, comfortable place to unwind. With the living
room being in the front of the house the space has to flow well with the dining
room, yet feel inviting and complement the dining room.
Going with my overall home color scheme of Gray, Black,
White and Gold/Silver accents, I am looking at either black or charcoal gray
accent chairs. I want the living room to be more of a conversation spot with
four chairs, a coffee table and area rug.
Room Inspiration:
#1:
We will not have the wine cabinet on the back wall but the
layout and front windows will be the same. I love how the living room in this
model is not too formal but comfortable and classy. The orange chairs against
the calm color palette really brightens up the space. I like the idea of bright
colored furniture but I don’t like the lack of versatility. With neutral chairs
I can change the décor such as pillows, window treatments and wall art and
totally transform the look of the space without having to purchase new chairs. I
will possibly change my décor seasonal because I get bored sometimes.

I absolutely LOVE this space. The black, white and gray
color scheme really works well with this space. I love the shiny silver coffee
table and the mirrors on the wall.

I like the clean lines displayed in the black with white piped accent chairs. The dark grey walls also brings interest to the room. The light flooring keeps the room balanced and open. This room gives off a masculine vibe but I like the décor.
Furniture Inspiration:
Chairs:
I am undecided on gray vs. black accent chairs. The dining room chairs that I really like are gray. But I also see a few in black that I also like. This is the only black chair that doesn't look cheap however, they are very expensive from ZGallerie. Remember I have to get four so at $799 a chair I don't think I want this as a splurge item. What do you think? I grey chairs I found to be much cheaper. I can get the chair on the bottom right for $199 #WINNER.

Coffee Tables:
I love the new "mixed textures" look. Blending wood elements with other natural elements like marble, glass and steel make the room interesting. I'm loving the sophistication of the marble table!

Sideboards:
Mirror, mirror and more mirror! The ultimate statement piece. Adding mirror elements help bounce light throughout the space. The glam appeal also brings much needed personality to a boring space. Again, I added the marble... it looks FIERCE!

Chandeliers:
These budget busters will be sure to be one of my show stopping pieces. I LOVE Restoration Hardware's stunning chandeliers (top left). The top right option is a more budget friendly chandelier that I found on Amazon.

Accents:
Most of the pieces below can be found at ZGallerie. Again going with the theme, the silver and gold accents will really tie in the design.
Living Room Mood Board:
I
put together a sample mood board of how I will design and configure the living
room space. The board only has two chairs but there will be four. I'm sure this will change, but for now here is what I have. PRETTY CHIC!
Living Room Plan Layout:
I put together a 3D rendering of the living room space. I really want the space to be classy and inviting. Using the iHomeRegristry design software I was able to configure the space based on the measurements of the floor plan. This way, I can see exactly how each piece fits into the space. The living room is 12'8" x 12 which isn't a huge space. I don't want the space to feel too tight or over crowded. Knowing how to place the furniture and where is very important in designing this home.
